Position schedule:
Sunday: 7:00pm-12:00am
Monday: 2:30pm-12:00am
Tuesday: 2:00pm-12:00am
Wednesday: 2:00pm-10:00am
Thursday: 2:30pm-10:00pm
Duties
- Supervision and Monitoring Students: Monitor students at all times and in all residential areas as well as the cafeteria, athletic events, off campus during WSD sponsored activities, and outdoors to ensure safety and appropriate behavior; transport and supervise students to off-campus events and appointments, pick up students from school bus loading zones and academic buildings as needed; assists with supervision of students during after school program activities; assists students with homework and other school-related needs.
- Instruction and Care: Nurture and comfort students to ensure their safety and well-being by following the Residential Program Procedures (RPP); provide training and conduct drills with students in all areas of emergency procedures; provide direct instruction to students for independent living skills (ILS), self advocacy and assists with school assignments/homework; ensure the cottage living areas are kept clean, neat and safe daily; monitor, counsel and assist students with their daily schedule and routine duties in an effort to facilitate student self-sufficiency and independent living; assist in the implementation of the ILS curriculum under the direction of supervisors.
- Reporting and Communication: Ensure confidentiality of records and information relating to students; document student behaviors, incidents and/or information in logbook and/or level system book, complete the Daily Student Information form, and write behavior referrals and pupil information forms as needed; provides input for the ongoing assessment of student behavior and attendance at meetings as needed to recommend programming, discipline, and crisis intervention; maintain ongoing communication with supervisors, parents, coworkers, academic staff, and administrators as required; read and respond to all email, reports and communication logs daily.
- Meetings and Teamwork: Works with agency professionals to help develop and implement programming to meet the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development needs of students (i.e., assessments, behavior management, and crisis intervention).
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One school year experience working in an instructional group setting with children.
- Fluency in American Sign Language.
- Can successfully pass state and federal background checks.
- Willing to be a mandated reporter of child abuse and neglect.
- Ability to develop innovative ideas that provide solutions to all types of workplace challenges.
- Ability to coordinate and lead small groups and create a cooperative and productive environment in which to resolve problems or develop and implement plans.
- Ability to logically integrate various ideas, intentions and information to form effective goals, objectives, timelines, action plans and solutions.
- Ability to effectively communicate information for the purpose of having others learn, understand, and apply specific principles, techniques, or information.
- Ability to actively participate within a cohesive and results-orientated team.

This is a school year-based position and is not scheduled to work during annual school closures, which includes winter, spring, and summer break. This position does not receive spread pay and there is no guarantee of additional work opportunities during school closures. Employees may cash out accrued vacation leave during the school breaks.
Salary information:
This position is paid in accordance with the Washington General Government pay scale (Range 40) with 5% assignment pay.
This position is eligible for Shift Premium (additional $2.50 per hour).
