Job Summary

The Program Counselor for the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) supports student success in the Yonkers School District by providing academic counseling, mentoring, and social-emotional learning (SEL) development. This role delivers non-clinical counseling support through individual and group sessions, helping students build self-advocacy, organization, and goal-setting skills. The Program Counselor also promotes college and career readiness while ensuring increased student engagement, skill development, and progress toward academic and post-secondary goals.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide academic support, mentoring, and study skills development to students
* Facilitate small group sessions focused on social-emotional learning (SEL), conflict resolution, and goal setting
* Support students in developing organization, time management, and self-advocacy skills
* Conduct outreach and recruit students for participation in the program
* Introduce students to college and career pathways through workshops and enrichment activities
* Track and maintain attendance for student participation and program events
* Coordinate logistics for trips, workshops, and enrichment activities
* Conduct outreach to students and families to encourage consistent participation
* Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and staff to support student needs
* Present program information to students, families, and school staff
* Attend and support occasional evening events such as parent-teacher nights, financial aid workshops, and college admission events
* Ensure all student data and documentation are accurate, complete, and submitted on time

Qualifications

Qualifications
* Education: Master's Degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field required
* Experience: No prior experience required; candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to student success, and a willingness to learn and grow in the role
* Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to facilitate groups and manage multiple responsibilities
* Other: Ability to engage diverse student populations and families

Work Environment
