The Behavior Interventionist is a critical member of the NBES team, dedicated to fostering student success and a positive school culture. This role provides intensive behavioral instruction and early intervention for both general education and special education students. By bridging the gap between the mainstream classroom and targeted support, students develop the emotional and functional skills necessary to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support & Instruction

Direct Intervention: Conduct 1:1 sessions and small group instruction focusing on proactive social-emotional learning and behavioral regulation so that students can thrive in their academic settings.

Fluid and Flexible Support: Provide "push-in" support within the classroom or during recess, helping to ensure students are able to apply skills learned in the small group setting to the larger class setting.

IEP Implementation: Deliver targeted instruction for special education students with functional/behavioral IEP goals, in consultation with the Special Education team.

Daily Check-ins: Maintain consistent touchpoints with students to monitor progress and provide emotional regulation support and follow-through.

Collaboration & Consultation

Teacher Partnership: Collaborate with general education teachers to model behavior plan implementation and provide real-time coaching on preferred strategies.

Special Education Integration: Meet regularly with the Special Education team to program for shared students and brainstorm adaptive strategies.

Leadership Teams: Act as an integral member of the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) teams.

Communication: Facilitate ongoing dialogue between teachers, parents, and administrators regarding student progress and behavioral needs.

Whole School Supports: Provide guidance and support on schoolwide Tier 1and II behavior interventions.

Data & Planning

Observation & Analysis: Complete formal student observations and analyze data to identify behavioral triggers and trends. Collaborate with District BCBA as needed.

Plan Development: Create and implement comprehensive Behavior Support Plans and targeted Tier III interventions.

Resource Creation: Develop customized lessons and accommodations tailored to individual student needs.
