About Children’s Crisis Intervention Service

NYC H+H/Metropolitan seeks talented and passionate social workers specialized in children and adolescent mental health assessment and crisis intervention techniques.

The Children's Crisis Intervention Service (CCIS) is a short-term crisis program serving children and adolescents. Our Child Crisis Specialists provide comprehensive assessments, crisis intervention, and stabilization services to youth and their families during times of acute need. The program’s goal is to help families safely navigate crisis, strengthen coping and safety planning, and facilitate connection to appropriate ongoing treatment and support services.

We are hiring for CCIS social work staff at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi

Typical Tasks

1. Conduct comprehensive crisis assessments with youth following emergency department presentations, to evaluate safety, risk, and immediate needs.

2. Provide crisis interventions, safety planning, and emotional stabilization for youth experiencing acute behavioral health crises.

3. Deliver short-term therapeutic support and psychoeducation to help families and caregivers understand the crisis, strengthen coping strategies, and build resilience.

4. Coordinate care with emergency department staff, outpatient providers, schools, and community agencies to ensure continuity of support.

5. Participate in multidisciplinary case consultations and team meetings to review cases and support best outcomes for youth and families.

6. Maintain trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach when engaging youth and families from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Valid license as an LMSW issued by the NYSED; or Valid license as an LCSW issued by the NYSED.
