Job Title: **Social Worker

FLSA Status: EXEMPT

Salary Range: $60,800-83,952 (Depending on Licensure Level and Experience)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university;

Master’s degree

New Mexico Public Education Department Licensure as a Social Worker New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department Licensure

Medicaid Provider Number NPI Number

5 years minimum in public school setting experience. Bilingual preferred

Good organizational ability; good written and oral communication skills; ability to maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding students, staff, parents, and school matters.

Essential Job Responsibilities of Social Worker:

  • Works cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.

  • Keeps monthly service log for every child on caseload and submits to Student Services on designated deadline each month.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the dynamics of the educational organization.
  • Effectively manages the resources for which he/she is responsible.
  • Complies with state and federal statutes.
  • Participates in parent conferences, teacher conferences and in-service training when appropriate.
  • Participates in initial Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
  • Assists in preparing Individual Educational Plans when appropriate.
  • Familiar with program levels, services available for the student, and makes recommendations that will help the student reach his/her learning potential.
  • Responsible for all reports and other paperwork as may be required.
  • Knowledgeable about each criteria requirement for each of the IDEA exceptionalities.
  • Follows methods of school social work practice appropriate to identified concerns, including direct services and program development.
  • Provides family assessments, crisis intervention, group, individual and family counseling, and offers information and referral services.
  • Serves as home-school-community liaison.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with other school personnel, community agencies, students and their families.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings relating to the educational planning and progress of students in Special Education.
  • Ensures parent participation in the student’s educational placement through home visits and other outreach

activities.

  • Establishes and maintains communication with parents regarding student academic, social and behavioral progress.
  • Consults and shares information with teacher, administrators, and other school personnel.
  • Coordinates efforts for the management of individual and group cases as appropriate.
  • Assesses the quality and effectiveness of school social work services and provides records as necessary.
  • Complies with the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers.
  • Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of the Pojoaque Valley Schools.
  • Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations.
  • Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly.
  • Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility.
  • Attends workshops and in-service to stay abreast of changes in standards, assessment strategies, and research findings.
  • Collaborates with other professionals to develop multidisciplinary reports, etc.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Equipment, Tools, and Materials:

Educational supplies and materials, including chalk, pen, markers, paper, books, chalkboard, desks, chairs, computers, and audio-visual equipment. Must know how or be willing to learn how to operate multi-media equipment to include current technology; testing kits, including IQ, achievement, and specialized area tests.
