Job Description
The Mental Health Coordinator provides non-medical clinical mental health services within a correctional facility. This role focuses on conducting assessments, delivering therapeutic interventions, and managing individualized treatment plans while ensuring compliance with regulatory and confidentiality standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health screenings and clinical assessments through record review and interviews
- Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient needs
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention services
- Document all treatment and evaluation activities in healthcare records
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive patient information
- Apply psychological counseling theories and techniques in treatment delivery
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Collaborate with facility staff to ensure continuity of care
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, including 2 years in a comparable role
- Strong background in mental health assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention
- Ability to work in a correctional facility environment
- Active California (CA) license required (LCSW or LPC)
- US Citizenship required for ICE clearance
- Must pass background and credit investigation for clearance
- Ability to maintain flexible scheduling availability (weekday and weekend shifts)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Open availability required per client scheduling policy
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or related clinical field
Certifications
- LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or
- LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
- LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) (acceptable per licensure standards)
License
- Active California State License (LCSW or LPC required; LMFT acceptable per facility guidelines)
- Valid driver’s license preferred
