If you enjoy working with children and want meaningful work where you're supported and trained, Operant Services is hiring Behavior Interventionists (BI) to work one-on-one with students in school settings.

This role is sometimes referred to as a Behavior Technician (BT) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Training toward RBT certification is provided.

Behavior Interventionists help children build communication, social, and daily living skills while reducing challenging behaviors. Services are provided during the school day and follow individualized behavior plans under the supervision of experienced clinicians.

This role offers hands-on experience working directly with students and school staff and can be a great fit for individuals interested in careers in psychology, education, behavioral health, or child development.

Our Commitment to Our Team

At Operant Services, we believe supporting our staff is essential to supporting the students we serve.

When you join our team, you can expect:

  • Training and supervision to help you feel confident in your work
  • Ongoing support from experienced clinical staff
  • Clear communication and collaboration with supervisors
  • A team that values reliability, professionalism, and mutual respect
  • A scheduling team that works to maintain consistent hours and school placements

Typical Work Hours

Most sessions take place during the school day.

Yearly schedule for this position follows the district's schedule for holidays and yearly breaks, which include Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks.

Typical working hours fall between:

Monday – Friday | School Hours (approx. 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM)

Additional hours may be available depending on school and student needs.

One key benefit of school-based services is consistent scheduling — if a student is absent, staff are typically reassigned within the school site or district, helping maintain hours and pay.

Many Behavior Interventionists prefer this schedule for its consistency and alignment with school calendars.
