The School Social Worker's primary goal is to help students resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered them. The Social Worker works collaboratively with parents to implement in-home training programs when appropriate.Responsibilities: Performs casework service with individual students to correct those personal, social, or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress. Performs casework service with parents to increase the parents understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their childs problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the students behavior.Supervises the referral of students to, and serves as liaison with, such outside agencies as the Welfare Department, Child Placement Bureau, and Juvenile Court, as appropriate.Makes home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a students background.Serves as liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary, as in welfare cases, foster home children, and disadvantaged students.Assists students directly toward adjustment to school.Conducts individual, group, or facilitates therapy for diagnosed students who would benefit from behavior modification.Reports progress and completes all documentation associated with services provided to students. Keeps sufficient records of cases for use by school staff members and outside agencies when appropriate.Serves as a resource for other school personnel regarding adjustment situations.Participates in in-service training programs.Keeps current on new developments in the field.Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Special EducationTerms: 182 school days in accordance with the Randolph Education Association (REA) collective bargaining agreementSalary placement will be consistent with REA salary schedule.

Salary includes a 5% salary differential
