What We Do

The Community Services Department provides exceptional cultural, educational, recreational, and social services to enhance and maintain a high quality of life and attractive physical environment in the Beverly Hills community. The Recreation Division is responsible for researching, implementing, and evaluating a variety of services and programs for the community with the purpose of enhancing each participant's quality of life. Through collaborative effort across multiple City sites, the Recreation Division serves as a destination for educational, recreational, and cultural endeavors for all ages and provide diverse and innovative recreation and cultural programming and services for the Beverly Hills community.

Who We're Looking For

The City of Beverly Hills is looking for multiple Recreation Counselors with experience in musical theater and summer camps for youth ages 5-14 years old.

These positions will be part of a team providing a fun and enriching daytime summer camp held outdoors at multiple recreation facilities including Greystone Mansion & Gardens. All camp staff will help with daily activities including lunch, games, camper drop-off and pick-up, and more. Campers are divided into the following age groups: Orange Cuties (ages 5–6), Lower Catskills (ages 7–10), and Upper Catskills (ages 11–14).

We are looking for qualified candidates for the following areas:

  • Music: Seeking candidates with the ability to teach and rehearse songs with campers of varying levels of experience and talent, focusing on building confidence and vocal techniques. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, reading music from score sheets, operating the soundboard during performances, and collaborating on camper auditions and casting the session’s production in coordination with the positions overseeing drama and dance.
  • Drama: Seeking candidates who have experience working with youth of varying skill levels and backgrounds. This position may need to modify scripts and dialogue to ensure all campers are included in the production. In addition to overseeing the script and staging the production, this position will teach basic acting techniques such as stage presence, vocal projection, and line delivery. One of the responsibilities of this position will be collaborating on camper auditions and casting the session’s production in coordination with the positions overseeing music and dance.
  • Dance: Seeking candidates with the ability to choreograph movement for youth of varying backgrounds and ability. This position will stage and choreograph musical numbers for the session’s performance, teaching movement and dance to both small and large groups while fostering an inclusive environment. This position will be required to demonstrate appropriate awareness of safety when teaching campers movement and spacing. One of the responsibilities of this position will be collaborating on camper auditions and casting the session’s production in coordination with the positions overseeing music and drama.

All candidates must demonstrate an understanding of customer service with the campers, their families, other City staff, and general visitors to the park. Successful candidates will demonstrate an understanding of appropriateness for age range, topics of conversation, and are expected to act as an example for the campers as well as younger staff including Recreation Aides and Counselors in Training.

This is an in-person position, located at Greystone Mansion & Gardens, 905 Loma Vista Drive, Beverly Hills, 90210. Shifts during camp start between 8am-9am Monday-Friday and end between 5-5:30pm, with the exception of show days, which may go until 9pm. Camp dates are June 8-July 2 (shows June 30 & July 1) and July 13-August 7 (shows August 5 & 6). All staff are also required to attend mandatory staff training before the start of camp, Sunday, May 31, 2026.
