The Counselor, a member of the Pecan Haven treatment team, provide critical alcohol and drug assessment and referral services to clients referred to the program in a manner that reflects Pecan Haven mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Conduct confidential, quality assessment of clients to determine appropriate level of care.

- Collect and review referral information upon assignment of clients.

- Facilitate small group sessions.

- Conduct psycho-educational groups.

- Engage family in therapeutic process.

- Work closely with clients to engage them in the decision making process.

- Collect collateral information.

- Send progress reports if necessary to referral source.

- Model and support health and wellness activities and healthy coping skills for clients.

- Complete paperwork requirements and maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records.

- Participate in all assigned meetings, staff development and training required.

Competencies:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of the agency mission, vision, goals and philosophy as well as policies and procedure.

2. Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement appropriate goals to facilitate problem resolution.

3. Demonstrate ability to work with minimum supervision.

4. Demonstrate ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

5. Knowledge to intervene with crisis situation and assist clients in resolving problems that may impede recovery.

You must possess a valid, unrestricted license through LA-ADRA, LPC Board of Examiners, and/or Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
