Daily Responsibilities (SOP):
1. Psychiatric Patient Visits (Core Responsibility)
- See new, established, and follow-up psychiatry patients independently (typical visits 30-60 minutes).
- Perform psychiatric evaluations, clinical assessments, and treatment planning.
- Document diagnoses, clinical decision-making, and plan of care clearly in the EMR.
- Provide patient education on diagnoses, medications, side effects, safety, and expectations.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up intervals and continuity of care.
2. Medication Management (Top Priority)
- Manage psychiatric medications for assigned patient panel.
- Start, adjust, taper, or discontinue medications as clinically appropriate.
- Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, adherence, and safety concerns.
- Address medication-related questions and provide clear guidance to patients.
- Coordinate refills and ensure prescriptions are accurate and timely.
3. Spravato (Esketamine) Care - Consults & Treatment Oversight
- Conduct Spravato consults to evaluate appropriateness for treatment.
- Start patients under Spravato and confirm readiness for treatment initiation.
- Monitor patients during Spravato sessions as needed per protocol.
- Clear patients to leave after observation window when clinically appropriate.
- Document treatment response, safety checks, and discharge clearance.
4. Clinical Communication & Collaboration
- Coordinate with front office, clinical support team, and providers to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Communicate clearly on any patient safety concerns, escalation needs, or clinical updates.
- Support consistent workflows and help reinforce clinical standards for patient care.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Complete charting in the EMR accurately and within required timelines.
- Maintain compliance with clinic policies, state and federal guidelines, and professional standards of care.
- Protect patient confidentiality and follow all HIPAA requirements.
Qualifications Required:
- Master's degree (or higher) in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) with minimum of two years experience.
- Active Texas APRN license and state certification/recognition in good standing.
- Ability to practice independently within scope and provide outpatient psychiatric care.
- DEA license (or ability to obtain) and prescriptive authority in Texas.
- Strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and patient-centered communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior outpatient psychiatry experience.
- Experience with Spravato workflows (or willingness to learn quickly).
- Comfort managing complex medication regimens and follow-up planning.
- Strong EMR documentation habits and time management.
- (PMHNP).
Tools & Systems Used:
- EMR / Scheduling system
- Pharmacy platforms (e-prescribing)
- Spravato tracking / visit documentation tools (as applicable)
- Internal clinical protocols and patient communication systems
Skills Required:
- Strong psychiatric assessment and treatment planning skills
- Excellent medication management and patient education
- Professional and calm communication (patients + staff)
- Strong documentation and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently with 30-60 minute appointment blocks
- Ability to maintain consistent standards and follow protocol-based care
