We’re looking for someone who can gradually take over managing the care of our son who is 38 and on the spectrum. We’ve been very fortunate finding people to support Adam who have big hearts and are very attentive, engaging and energetic. Now we’re looking for someone who ideally can also do all of the following as we age:
- Manage Adam’s staff and services
- Fill in for absent staff
- Share a home (yours or his) and provide meals
- Stay in the area indefinitely
- Make a very long-term commitment
Despite Adam’s challenges, he is usually one of the happiest and sweetest guys you’ll ever meet. His autism, intellectual deficits and nonverbal nature have not prevented him from having a very enjoyable life and really connecting with people. Our staff truly value Adam and some absolutely adore him.
Initially, you’ll just help Adam with his daily activities to see if you can really bond with him. These include going to the pool, beach, parks, and nature centers, visiting stores, doing various activities at home, and listening to music in town. As you take on more responsibilities, your pay will increase. We’ll develop a plan with you to accomplish this. If you (preferably with a partner) decide to take over all of our responsibilities in the future, you will receive the full salary plus living expenses for Adam.
We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks much for considering our position!
Pay: $44,000.00 - $126,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Paid time off
- Paid training
Application Question(s):
- Do you believe you have the potential to become Adam’s champion - someone who really appreciates his value, and enjoys and cares deeply for him? Please explain why.
- Please indicate which days (Monday thru Sunday) you could work regular shifts as you get acquainted with Adam. What hours between 2 PM and midnight (and possibly midnight to 6 AM) could you potentially work on those days?
Work Location: In person
