Job Summary
Jennifer Temps is seeking a licensed Social Worker for a full-time temporary assignment in Coxsackie, NY. This opportunity is based within a residential mental health setting serving forensic patients through the Office of Mental Health. The ideal candidate will be experienced in therapeutic services, assessments, documentation, and working in a structured clinical environment.
The Social Worker will provide weekday therapeutic services in a primary therapist role within a residential mental health unit. Responsibilities include conducting individual therapy, completing mental health assessments, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting treatment and discharge planning in accordance with policy and procedure. This role may involve contact with incarcerated individuals and requires compliance with facility orientation and health clearance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual therapy services to patients in a primary therapist role
- Complete mental health assessments and required clinical documentation
- Prepare and maintain Core Histories, suicide assessments, risk assessments, weekly and monthly progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge plans
- Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with facility policies and procedures
- Participate in treatment planning and discharge planning activities
- Work collaboratively within a structured mental health and forensic care setting
- Maintain professional standards in interactions with patients and interdisciplinary teams
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in a social work or related setting is required.
- Familiarity with child protective services protocols and child welfare regulations.
- Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention and crisis management.
- Experience providing behavioral health counseling or mental health support is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of special education systems and teaching strategies for working with students with diverse needs.
- Ability to navigate cultural diversity counseling effectively within varied communities.
- Strong conflict management skills combined with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required
- Experience providing individual therapy and completing clinical assessments/documentation
- Strong written documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to work Monday through Friday in a full-time schedule
- Ability to comply with facility onboarding requirements, including TB testing
- Willingness to complete required orientation
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a residential, psychiatric, forensic, or correctional mental health setting
- Familiarity with treatment planning, suicide risk assessment, and discharge planning
- Experience working with complex mental health populations
- Ability to adapt to a highly structured clinical environment
Pay Range: $45 – $50 per hour (depending on experience)
