Educational Specialist degree/Masters degree from an accreditedcollege/university.2. Current Kansas State Teaching License with School Psychologistendorsement on file in the Central Office.3. Demonstrates a commitment to career development and life-longlearning.Essential Functions:Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:a. Facilitate an understanding of child development and emotionalhealth, among school professionals and family members.b. Administer and interpret individual assessments to help determinespecific academic and behavioral needs of students.c. Participate in developing programming designed to meet individualneeds of students.d. Assists in development of goals and strategies for educationalimprovement.e. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.f. Ensure that all activities adhere to the professional standards andan ethical code for the school psychologist.g. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district andcommunity.h. Work effectively with community organizations and outside agencies.i. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.j. Support the value of an education.k. Support the mission and philosophy of Derby Public Schools.l. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:a. Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.b. Occasionally requires move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objectsor materials.c. Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach.d. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.e. Must be able to work indoors nd outdoors year-round.f. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.General Responsibilities:1. Conduct formal and informal assessments to determine a child'scognitive abilities, learning styles, academic achievement level,emotional development and social skills in an effort to assignappropriate educational services to individual students.2. Help design curriculum-based content probes and progress monitoringstrategies to guide instruction.3. Assist teachers and parents in developing an appropriate IndividualEducation Plan (IEP) for students.4. Ensure that Kansas State Board of Education guidelines for SpecialEducation are met.5.
