Position Title: Mental Health Counselor – (Home and Community-Based Mental Health Professional)

Location: Warner Robins, Georgia area

Job Type: Full-Time Contract, Hourly Professional or Employee, Hourly Employee

Compensation Range: Pay Ranges Vary Based on License, certifications, and experience.

Job Summary:

Under broad supervision, provide counseling and support services with an emphasis on prevention, behavior modification, and recovery in home- and community-based settings. Help youth with severe and persistent mental illness (or co-occurring disorders) live successfully in the community and achieve personal recovery goals. Services are delivered primarily in clients' homes and community settings, with periodic office visits or telehealth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct behavioral and mental health assessments, including risk evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualized treatment and service plans focused on mental health, substance use, daily living skills, and community integration.
  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling and therapy using evidence-based practices in home and community settings.
  • Assist with crisis intervention.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in electronic health records (EHR) and comply with regulatory policies, state laws, and confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and professional development.
  • May include flexible scheduling to meet client needs (evenings and weekends available).
  • For licensed therapists: Deliver more advanced psychotherapy and clinical oversight.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related behavioral health field (Master's degree preferred for advanced clinical work).
  • 1–2 years of experience in mental health services, preferably in community- or home-based settings.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and reliable transportation (frequent travel to client homes and community sites required).
  • Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating with teams.

Preferred / Licensed Track:

  • Master's degree and current Georgia licensure (or license-eligible status) as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent.
  • Experience with severe persistent mental illness (SPMI), forensic populations, or co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Bilingual skills are highly valued.

  • Strong skills in clinical assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention.
  • Cultural competence.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems.
  • Ability to handle flexible hours and work in varied home and community environments.
  • Ability to multitask, effectively prioritize tasks, and make necessary quick pivots without dropping details.
  • Adaptable and remains calm under pressure
