The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is looking to recruit an Admission Counselor II at our Perimeter College campus Clarkston.

The candidates for these positions will assist in university recruitment activities on and off campus to attract freshmen and transfer students to Perimeter College. These positions require strong troubleshooting and the ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions and interpreting Office, University, and Board of Regents policies relevant to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.


Examples of Duties Include:


  • Counsel prospective students and applicants on the admissions requirements and procedures for Perimeter College and Georgia State University.
  • Be the liaison to other departments on campus to assist and provide outstanding customer service
  • Assist with all daily scheduled on-campus Information Sessions. This 30-45-minute information session, which is part of the daily campus visit that includes group tours, consists of dispensing accurate information about the campus, admissions, programs of study, financial aid, and the like to students, parents and guests.
  • Meet with prospective students and guests after the daily campus tour to counsel applicants with regards to admissions requirements and procedures.
  • Be a member of the Admissions Mail committee to follow up with prospective students via e-mail and phone.
  • Assist and collaborate with the processing team to review academic and non-academic documents for the purpose of admission to Georgia State University, Perimeter College. This includes the evaluation of high school and/or college transcripts, processing reactivations, data enter high school and college course information, review high school transcripts, review SAT/ACT scores to determine admissibility of freshmen applicants, review college transcripts and calculate cumulative GPA’s to determine admissibility of transfer applicants, data enter transfer credit for those applicants that are determined admissible and provide customer service on the phone and via email regarding a prospective and admitted student’s application when needed.
  • Assist and participate in on and off campus student recruitment events in Georgia. This will include, but is not limited to, all on campus open houses, college fairs and high school visits.

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of, familiarity with and experience in the admissions field and interpreting policies and procedures to prospective students and the University community.
  • Understanding of the territory management concept of recruitment and ability to manage a specific geographic recruitment region by utilizing data for decision making and travel territories.
  • Ability to present clear and accurate information to small and large groups of various populations.
  • Ability to effectively work with diverse constituencies in a large, fast-paced professional work environment.
  • Represent the University in a professional and positive manner at all recruitment and recruitment related functions.
  • Knowledge of and experience with computer systems, programs and applications in using Banner and Hobsons Connect.
  • Ability to travel (sometimes driving long distance requiring overnight stays). Weekend and evening hours required when necessary.
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Salary offers will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the Minimum Hiring Standards. Candidates earlier in their careers are typically offered salaries closer to the minimum of the hiring range, while those with more advanced or relevant experience may be considered for compensation at or above the hiring range.
