Peer Support Counselor – Problem Gambling Services
About the Role
As a Part-time Peer Support Counselor/Recovery Coach, you’ll use your lived experience with problem gambling to empower clients on their recovery journey. You’ll help them set meaningful goals, build skills, and connect with resources that support wellness, employment, education, and community engagement.
What You’ll Do
- Provide peer support, case management, and financial recovery guidance.
- Help clients get started with Gamblers Anonymous/Gam‑Anon and connect with community supports.
- Assist clients with the voluntary self‑exclusion process.
- Participate in outreach, trainings, and public education events.
- Complete timely and accurate client documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the Program Manager and clinical team.
- Engage in ongoing trainings and apply culturally responsive practices.
- Follow all agency compliance requirements and complete required trainings.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.
What You Bring
- CCAR Peer Support Counselor Certificate or another CT approved Recovery Support certification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
- Understanding of individual, group, and family system dynamics.
- Valid CT Drivers License
Job Type: Part-time
