JOB TITLE: Social Worker

D.O.T. # FULL TIME X 9/10 Months

D.O.T. CLASS:
Sedentary Light X Medium Heavy Very Heavy

REQUIREMENTS:
A. Education: BA/BS of Social Work
B. Certification: Nebraska Certification or ability to obtain
C. Experience Desired: Two to three years of social work experience preferred
D. Other Requirements Good knowledge of human behavior and development of family dynamics; leadership skills; good assessment, communication and intervention skills and the ability to work positively with individuals/families in stressful situations; good working knowledge of community resources.
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director for Student services

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This is a generalized job description. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary, depending on the assigned department or school. Applicants should be made aware of the specific functions of the position prior to employment.

A, The skills pertinent to positive human relationships and the ability to work effectively with members of the instructional staff, parents and the community. A willingness and demonstrated abilities conducive to a continuous quest for quality education.

B. Ability to effectively and appropriately assess and address the needs, characteristics and interactions of student, families and community.

C. Uses knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school and community to intervene for student success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, consultation, program development, dropout prevention and coordinator of school and community services.

D. Advocate for appropriate services for students and their families.

E. Consult and collaborate with stakeholders on behalf of students and their families.

F. Effectively plan, implement and evaluate programs that promote student and family success.

G. Advocate, facilitate and contribute to accountability for outcomes aligned with local, state and federal policies and guidelines.

H. Work together with students, parents, school personnel, community agencies and others to help make school a successful and relevant experience for all children.

I. Help the school staff to work more effectively with students.

J. Provide consultation to school staff regarding students experiencing behavior, social or academic problems in school.

K. Serve as a member of the alternative programming intake team.

L. Facilitate communication between the school and family systems’ impact on students experiencing difficulty in school.

M. Promote an understanding of students’ perspectives, behaviors and values in the context of their family.

N. Work with community service agencies to facilitate communication with the school, and assist in obtaining needed services for students/families experiencing problems.

O. Provide community resources information to families and school staff.

P. Other duties as assigned.

Pay: From $41,950.00 per year
