Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Kindergarten Center School Counselor at Central Dauphin School District. This full-time position involves providing support to young students in their social, emotional, and academic development. The ideal candidate will create a safe and nurturing environment that fosters positive relationships among students, staff, and families, while promoting the overall well-being of all children in the kindergarten center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement strategies that support student success and well-being.
  • Conduct assessments to identify students' needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Facilitate classroom guidance lessons on topics such as conflict resolution, self-esteem, and social skills.
  • Serve as a resource for parents and guardians, offering guidance and support related to child development and school-related concerns.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and collaborate on intervention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and student progress.
  • Develop and implement programs and workshops that promote positive mental health and resilience among students.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and provide support during emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
  • Stay informed about best practices in school counseling and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Valid Pennsylvania School Counselor Certification or eligibility for certification.
  • Experience working with young children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and effective counseling techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and support services for children and families.

Hours- 8:35am – 4:05pm
