Adolescent Care Coordinator – High Acuity / Crisis Care
We are hiring Adolescent Care Coordinators (also known as Behavioral Health Technicians or Mental Health Technicians) to help manage safety, structure, and daily care for adolescents in a high-acuity, crisis-oriented treatment environment.
Care Coordinators are the front line and heartbeat of our multidisciplinary team, providing direct inpatient and outpatient support to adolescents ages 13–17 with serious mental health and/or substance use disorders. This role involves frequent interaction with emotionally dysregulated youth, and may include verbal aggression, behavioral escalation, and physical intervention in accordance with training and policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the safety and supervision of patients in a high-intensity treatment setting
- Build and maintain professional rapport with patients, clinical staff, and medical staff
- Observe patient behavior closely and intervene early to prevent escalation
- Assist clinical and medical staff with intakes, orientations, and daily program operations
- Assist with self-administered medications in accordance with policy
- Conduct and document vitals; report abnormal or concerning results to medical staff
- Conduct and document BACs and urine drug screens
- Complete timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record, including 15-minute safety checks
- Facilitate or assist with group sessions and structured activities
- Provide consistent role modeling, mentoring, and behavioral coaching while maintaining firm boundaries
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout the facility
- Transport patients to and from outside appointments when required
Qualifications
- Experience working with adolescents with mental health and/or substance use disorders
- Experience in high-acuity, crisis, residential, inpatient, or secure settings strongly preferred
- Knowledge of behavior management, de-escalation, and crisis intervention techniques
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, regulated, and professional during periods of escalation
- Compassionate, firm, and boundary-driven approach to care
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a background check
- Fingerprint clearance card (or ability to obtain)
