Adolescent Care Coordinator – High Acuity / Crisis Care

We are hiring Adolescent Care Coordinators (also known as Behavioral Health Technicians or Mental Health Technicians) to help manage safety, structure, and daily care for adolescents in a high-acuity, crisis-oriented treatment environment.

Care Coordinators are the front line and heartbeat of our multidisciplinary team, providing direct inpatient and outpatient support to adolescents ages 13–17 with serious mental health and/or substance use disorders. This role involves frequent interaction with emotionally dysregulated youth, and may include verbal aggression, behavioral escalation, and physical intervention in accordance with training and policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the safety and supervision of patients in a high-intensity treatment setting
  • Build and maintain professional rapport with patients, clinical staff, and medical staff
  • Observe patient behavior closely and intervene early to prevent escalation
  • Assist clinical and medical staff with intakes, orientations, and daily program operations
  • Assist with self-administered medications in accordance with policy
  • Conduct and document vitals; report abnormal or concerning results to medical staff
  • Conduct and document BACs and urine drug screens
  • Complete timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record, including 15-minute safety checks
  • Facilitate or assist with group sessions and structured activities
  • Provide consistent role modeling, mentoring, and behavioral coaching while maintaining firm boundaries
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout the facility
  • Transport patients to and from outside appointments when required

Qualifications

  • Experience working with adolescents with mental health and/or substance use disorders
  • Experience in high-acuity, crisis, residential, inpatient, or secure settings strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of behavior management, de-escalation, and crisis intervention techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm, regulated, and professional during periods of escalation
  • Compassionate, firm, and boundary-driven approach to care
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Fingerprint clearance card (or ability to obtain)

Important Note

This position is not a passive support role. Successful candidates are comfortable working in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment where safety, structure, and emotional regulation are critical.

If you are passionate about working with adolescents in crisis and can maintain professionalism under pressure, we encourage you to apply.
