Job Summary: Responsible for delivering counseling services to assigned residential and non-residential students in personal and social development, career employment, and behavior. Provides individual and group counseling and crisis intervention to all students.
Duties:
· Contacts assigned students prior to scheduled arrival to welcome them and provide information about the Center, reiterating behavioral standards.
· Meets and greets assigned arrivals at the designated time on Center or at the determined travel termination point, as assigned.
· Conducts and documents an intake assessment, including student history, during the first 48 hours of enrollment. A copy of this assessment will be submitted to the Health and Wellness Director for review and inclusion in the student health record.
· Provides ongoing structured, scheduled, and documented individual social development and adjustment counseling and case-notes each session.
· Schedules and conducts monthly group support sessions designed to identify and address specific issues, such as abuse, relationships, childcare, homesickness, language, and cultural barriers, etc.
· Identifies students who need more intensive services and referral to such services, ensuring intervention, implementation, and documentation of strategies to address personal issues, including mental health, medical issues, and English Language Learners.
· Ensures that maintenance of records of individual counseling sessions are documented in case notes in the RAP format: 1. The R*eason for such session, 2. An Assessment, and 3. A P*lan of action with appropriate follow-up.
· Implements safeguards to assure that personal information about individual students is subject to the Privacy Act and advises student of the same.
· Collaborates with each student to initiate a Personal Career Development Plan (PCDP), documenting the student’s personal career goals, training needs, challenges, and progress and accomplishments throughout enrollment and the post-Center Career Transition Period.
· Ensures the availability of counseling services on weekends and in the event of emergencies.
· Provides support services, to include assisting with AWOL retrieval; conferring with parents, Admissions Counselors, Career Transition Specialists, and social service agencies; and provides referrals to community resources, as appropriate.
· Knows and stays current on industry certifications offered and requirements for attainment.
· Interacts and shares information with other departments and community resources as needed and in accordance with Student Rights to Privacy and Disclosure of Information to ensure the coordinated delivery of services to students, especially in assisting them to meet the rigors of the training program.
· Ensures that each student participates in ongoing evaluations, with appropriate staff, at least every 60 days.
· Provides each student with a schedule of individualized projects and activities to assist him or her in meeting the Career Success Standards in which a “Needs Improvement” rating is received on the CS-SET or ESP.
· Monitors, encourages, supports, and enforces Center attendance rules.
· Serves as a member of committees to review policies and procedures relating to the counseling program and the Center’s operation as directed.
· Performs other duties as assigned within the individual’s scope and capabilities.

Experience: 15 semester hours of instruction in social services-related instruction, and one year of experience in counseling or related field.
Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Drivers’ License. Completion of Defensive Driving training.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
