Job Title: Summer Day Camp Counselor & Van Driver

Phoenix Christian Academy offers a safe, fun, and faith-based summer camp experience for children. We provide activities that promote spiritual growth, academics/STEM activities, creativity, teamwork, and personal development in a supportive Christian environment.
Job Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic individuals to serve as Summer Day Camp Counselors. Counselors will supervise and engage children in activities, assist with transportation using a 15-passenger van, and uphold the values of our Christian camp. All counselors must complete mandatory training, including but not limited to 1st aid/CPR and DCF child care coursework. The DCF mandated minimum 45 hours of training is not required to start but will be required to be completed within a set time period. Any additional qualifications would be an advantage.
Some general housekeeping activities will be allocated - typically cleaning and tidying classrooms to maintain hygienic standards.
Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. Opportunity has the potential to be year round. College and technical-degree scholarships are also available to those who qualify.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and engage campers in recreational and educational activities such as: learning, games, crafts, sports, clubs, and devotionals.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers. Maintain a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents. Make sure all safety rules are followed.
- Ensure children are learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed. Resolve occasional disagreements between children and address behavioral issues.
- Keep records relating to child care. Keep accurate incident and transportation logs
- Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed
- Model positive behavior and Christian values.
- Drive a 15-passenger van for camper transportation.
- Complete required training and participate in staff development.
- Assist with set-up, clean-up, and other staff duties.
- Communicate with parents as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age: 21 years old
- Ability to pass a Level 2 National Background Check
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean record.
- Ability to safely drive a 15-passenger van.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Early Childhood Education: 1 year (Preferred, but not required)
- Elementary Education : 1 year (Preferred, but not required)
- Childcare: 1 year (Preferred, but not required)
License/Certification:
- DCF mandated 45 hours training (Preferred, but not required to start)
- 1st Aid & CPR certification (Preferred, but not required to start)
- CDA/FCCPC or higher (Preferred, but not required)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Participation in outdoor activities and sports.
- Long periods of standing and active engagement.
Schedule:
- Full-time during summer camp Camp dates are June 1st – August 7th
- Typical hours: Typical 35-40 hours/week with staggered start/end times between 7 AM – 5:30 PM
Position is open to begin part time before summer program starts and has the potential to be continued on through the school year for the right candidate. .

Pay: $14.50 - $16.00 per hour
