Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on emotional well-being, behavioral health, and mental health support tailored to diverse student needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to develop personalized academic advising plans that align with students’ strengths and goals.
- Implement conflict management strategies to resolve disputes and promote positive interactions among students.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to identify learning difficulties or behavioral concerns, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place.
- Offer specialized counseling that respects Islamic values while addressing issues related to childhood development, child welfare, and cultural diversity.
- Maintain thorough documentation of counseling sessions, progress reports, and incident reports in compliance with child protective services guidelines.
- Facilitate workshops on social skills, behavioral management, and mental health awareness to empower students with essential life skills.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in school counseling or related roles within educational settings; experience in special education is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, behavioral health practices, and social work methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, adolescents, parents, teachers, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to manage conflicts constructively and implement behavior management strategies in a classroom or school environment.
- Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and child protective services protocols.
- Background in Christian counseling or cultural diversity counseling is a plus; sensitivity to Islamic values is essential.
