We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Support Specialist & QBHA (Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant) / Residential Support Staff member to join our team at Fidelity Behavioral Health, an inpatient mental health facility that is focused on competency restoration and comprehensive care for our clients. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the daily activities of our clients, including medication distribution, running therapeutic groups, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment that promotes recovery and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Administration:
- Distribute medications to clients as prescribed, following all facility protocols and documentation requirements.
- Monitor clients for any adverse reactions or side effects and report any concerns to the nursing or medical staff.
- Group Facilitation:
- Lead and co-facilitate group therapy sessions under the guidance of licensed therapists, focusing on skill development, emotional regulation, and therapeutic support.
- Create and maintain a positive group atmosphere that encourages participation and fosters a sense of community among clients.
- Daily Client Support:
- Assist clients with daily routines, and developing the life skills necessary to promote a structured and stable environment.
- Provide direct support to clients experiencing behavioral or emotional distress, ensuring safety and offering appropriate interventions.
- Client Monitoring & Documentation:
- Observe client behaviors and progress, documenting notes in the electronic health record system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations while documenting client interactions and activities.
- Collaboration with Team:
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including medical providers, case managers, clinicians, and operations staff to ensure individualized care plans are followed and clients receive comprehensive treatment.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to foster a team-oriented approach to mental health care.
- Crisis Management:
- Respond promptly to behavioral crises, using de-escalation techniques to ensure the safety of clients and staff.
- Maintain a calm, supportive environment during moments of stress or heightened emotions among clients.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or
- Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with at least 1 year of experience in an inpatient mental health facility and
- Experience in a mental health or healthcare setting, particularly with inpatient clients, is highly desirable.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of mental health conditions, therapeutic interventions, and crisis management techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying mental health needs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively in a busy, dynamic environment.
- Certifications:
- QBHA certification required or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe or
- QMAP certification required or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe
- Personal Attributes:
- Compassionate, empathetic, and able to build rapport with clients in a non-judgmental manner.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism and care.
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate with a variety of healthcare professionals.
Fidelity Behavioral Health serves men in need of competency restoration due to SPMI and SUD issues. Medication is the cornerstone of what we do but we provide clients with 30-35 clinical and nonclinical service hrs (therapy,,case management, IOP, skills, training and peer support) pcp care as well as supportive housing.
