Diagnostic Assessment Services, Inc. is looking for you! A Counselor who will
work with students, faculty, and parents to provide services to address students’ behavioral, emotional, and social needs within the academic setting. Services include school-based counseling, consultations, crisis intervention, developing comprehensive behavioral plans, and trainings.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Counsel individual students and small groups presenting needs and concerns within the general education and special education environment.
  • Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Consultations with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people relating to implementation of intervention strategies and techniques to assist with the identified needs of students within the educational setting.
  • Conduct mental and behavioral health assessments, develop evaluations, interpret results appropriately, and effectively communicate to school personnel, students, and their parents.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all required physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
  • Comply with policies, routines, and regulations established by each campus, school district, federal and state law, State Board of Education rules in guidance and counseling, and professional licensure.
  • Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors, colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professionalism.

SPECIAL KNOWLEGDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Education/Certification:

  • Master's Degree in Counseling or Social Work from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas Professional Licensure in at least one of the following:
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • LPC Associate (LPC-A)
  • Licensed Social Worker (LMSW, LCSW)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Experience/Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Two (2) years’ experience in providing responsive counseling services to children or adolescents.
  • Able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress work; prolonged or irregular hours; and flexibility with schedule.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications, video conferencing, ability to learn and use additional computer software as necessary, and able to use basic office equipment.
  • Skills in communicating effectively with parents, students, staff, and community.
  • Knowledge of law as it pertains to mental health in the school setting.
Must service the following territory: (North/Northwest Dallas, South/Southeast Dallas, South/Southwest Dallas, Southwest Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio).
