About the role:
The Purchasing & Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate parts inventory through proper receiving,
stocking, counting, purchasing, and reconciliation processes within the Parts Department. This role supports operational
efficiency, customer satisfaction, and compliance with Peterbilt and PACCAR Parts standards. The Purchasing &
Inventory Specialist works closely with Parts Management, warehouse staff, and service personnel in both union and
non-union environments.
***Pay Range: $20.00/Hour - $22.00/Hour
Essential Duties:
• Receive, verify, and document incoming parts shipments for accuracy and condition.
• Maintain accurate inventory records within the dealership management system (DMS).
• Perform regular cycle counts and assist with physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure parts are properly labeled, stored, and organized according to company and OEM standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and notify management of shortages, overages, obsolescence, or damaged parts.
• Assist with core returns, warranty parts tracking, and vendor return processes.
• Support compliance with Peterbilt and PACCAR Parts inventory control requirements and audit standards.
• Coordinate with Parts Counter, Service Department, and warehouse staff to ensure timely parts availability.
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Prepare inventory-related reports and documentation as required.
• Work effectively within union and non-union environments, complying with applicable labor agreements where
required.
• Source and procure parts, components, and supplies from OEM and aftermarket vendors.
• Place and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and accurate fulfillment.
• Monitor vendor pricing, availability, and backorders.
• Negotiate pricing, freight terms, and return policies when applicable.
• Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and suppliers.
Qualifications
• Prior experience in inventory control, purchasing, warehouse operations, or parts departments preferred; heavy
truck or equipment experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with inventory systems, barcode scanning, or dealership management systems (DMS) preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work in both union and non-union environments as applicable.
