The Automotive Skilled Trades Instructor provides hands‑on classroom instruction for participants enrolled in Goodwill Industries of Michiana’s Automotive Skilled Trades Training Program. This role helps individuals build in‑demand automotive technician skills through an ASE‑aligned curriculum designed to meet the needs of local employers and prepare students for successful entry into the automotive workforce.

Compensation:

$21 hourly


Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging, hands‑on instruction aligned with ASE standards.
  • Develop, update, and facilitate automotive curriculum and lesson plans
  • Teach core concepts including automotive safety, customer service, basic automotive theory and repair, proper use of hand and power tools, se of diagnostic equipment, Brakes, steering, suspension, and engine repair
  • Manage classroom records, attendance, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinators, Success Coaches, Career Navigators, and employer partners to support participant success
  • Build a positive, inclusive learning environment for students of varying skill levels

Qualifications:
  • High school Core 40 diploma or equivalent, or the ability to obtain through The Excel Center
  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive industry
  • Current professional level ASE certification or the ability to obtain
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Workplace Specialist License or the ability to obtain
  • Hunter Alignment Certified preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of entry-level ASE certification standards and requirements
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
  • Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and provide proof of insurance to travel to different job sites
