Compass Health is seeking an HIM Lead Office Manager to lead daily operations within our Health Information Management (HIM) department, including Health Informatics and Training functions.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, secure, and compliant management of health information, while supporting staff development, cross-department collaboration, and continuous process improvement across the organization.

What You’ll Do

As the HIM Lead Office Manager, you will:

  • Oversee daily HIM operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations.
  • Manage and process health information requests, including subpoenas, court orders, and releases of information.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Washington State confidentiality laws.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HIM and Health Informatics inquiries, resolving issues and coordinating with internal and external partners.
  • Supervise, schedule, and support HIM staff, including hiring, performance management, and team development.
  • Provide and coordinate training on HIM workflows, systems, and policies.
  • Maintain expertise in electronic medical records and document management systems, partnering with IT and vendors as needed.
  • Lead development of workflows, SOPs, reports, training materials, and audit processes.
  • Conduct and oversee quality reviews and compliance audits, collaborating with Quality Management.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and process improvements across the agency.
  • Assist with budget tracking, resource planning, and fiscal responsibility within the department.
  • Provide hands-on support and serve as a subject matter expert for HIM operations and compliance.
  • Act as backup medical records custodian for court testimony when designated.

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma required; AA or BA degree preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of office management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in HIM, healthcare, or behavioral health
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and document management systems
  • Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership skills
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License and insurance (if applicable)

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of behavioral health records and privacy requirements
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Washington State regulations
  • Experience working in medical, mental health, or social services settings
  • Ability to collaborate with legal entities, courts, and external agencies
  • Strong organizational, project management, and process improvement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
