Agency Affiliated Counselor - Mental Health

An Agency Affiliated Counselor provides assessment and therapeutic treatment to children, youth and families at the agency and/or in Kent School District.

Open to KYFS MH Interns only who have successfully completed their internship with KYFS.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide intake, assessment and therapy to children, adolescents and families at the agency and in school settings.

2. Enter and maintain client information, including notes into EMR system meeting required timelines.

3. Attend and participate in all staff meetings, clinical consultations, and in-service trainings.

4. Seek consultation and training related to providing therapeutic services to pre-school aged children, latency aged children, adolescents, and families.

5. Stated interest in clinical work and work towards licensure in chosen field.

6. Provide consultations to other agency programs when requested.

7. Ability to work collaboratively with other community based organizations and child serving systems.

8. Promote effective relationships among diverse populations of children, youth and families receiving services.

9. Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

1. Completion of Master’s Degree Internship/Practical hours and/or Master’s Degree in Mental Health, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field.

2. Registration with the State of Washington as an Agency Affiliated Counselor in good standing.

3. Proven skills working with youth and families in individual, family and group settings.

4. Experience and familiarity with Proven Programs, Best Practices, Evidence-based service systems.

5. Familiarity with the King County Mental Health System preferred.

6. CDP or familiarity with SA issues and identification a plus.

7. Effective at working collaboratively with other community based organizations and child serving systems.

8. Appreciation and respect for diversity.

9. Commitment to serving the needs of youth and families and in working with a broad array of community groups in support of the agency’s goals and mission.

10. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

11. Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

12. Ability to speak Spanish or another language a plus.

13. Satisfactory completion of any required finger printing and criminal background checks; valid driver’s license, auto insurance and satisfactory driving record.
