About Our Facility

We are an Adult Residential Facility for Persons with Special Health Needs – Behaviors (ARFPSHN-B) located in Atwater, California, licensed by the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and vendored through the Central Valley Regional Center (CVRC). Our facility provides specialized residential care and support for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, complex medical diagnoses, and behavioral needs.

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide consulting services for five (5) residents in our ARFPSHN-B. The BCBA will work closely with our interdisciplinary team — including the administrator, direct care staff, nurses, physicians, and social workers — to assess, develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior support plans for residents with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) for residents with developmental/intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviors
  • Develop individualized behavior support plans (BSPs) grounded in applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, nursing staff, direct support professionals, and Regional Center service coordinators
  • Train and provide ongoing support to direct care staff on implementation of behavior support plans
  • Monitor resident progress through data collection and analysis; adjust plans as clinically indicated
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, individual program plan (IPP) meetings, and CVRC reviews
  • Ensure all behavior support plans comply with California Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) § 4648, Title 17, and Title 22 regulations
  • Coordinate with the facility administrator and nursing staff on restrictive behavioral interventions in accordance with DDS guidelines
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation including progress notes, quarterly reports, and incident-related documentation
  • Provide crisis consultation support to staff as needed
  • Uphold resident rights and dignity in all aspects of behavioral programming

Required Qualifications

  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
  • Knowledge of DDS licensing requirements, Title 17, Title 22, and the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act
  • Strong experience conducting FBAs and developing comprehensive, compliant behavior support plans
  • Demonstrated ability to train and coach direct support staff effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
  • Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must pass DOJ/FBI background clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities and complex behavioral needs
  • Experience working in DDS-licensed adult residential facilities (ARF, ARFPSHN, or ARFPSHN-B settings)
  • Experience with facilities vendored through the Central Valley Regional Center (CVRC)
  • Familiarity with CVRC vendor requirements and service authorization processes
  • Experience with clients who have co-occurring complex medical diagnoses alongside behavioral challenges
  • Experience with restrictive behavioral intervention (RBI) protocols and the DDS RBI authorization process

Schedule & Compensation

This is a consulting/contracted position. We require at least two hours of behavior consultant hours per client each month. Scheduling is flexible and will be determined based on resident needs and mutual availability. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
