Job Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE:The Behavior Interventionist is a professional support position. The Behavior Interventionist will collaborate with educators to develop, model and train behavioral interventions for students.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsement of Elementary GeneralistExperience:Three years classroom instruction experience with mentor and peer coaching experienceSpecial Knowledge and Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and legal documents.Ability to effectively present information to administration, campus groups and special services.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Demonstrates a strong foundation in Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Participates in the process and interpretation of Functional Behavior Assessment.
  • Designs and implements multi-faceted behavior interventions.
  • Understands the behavioral characteristics typically associated with Autism, Behavior Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury and Intellectual Disabilities, etc.
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with parents and professionals.
  • Understands and works with the various support systems available in the community.
  • Understands Special Education regulations including the Least Restrictive Behavior Intervention policy.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to develop, model and train others to apply effective and research based behavior management techniques.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of educational curriculum and instructional methods.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
  • Participate in the district staff development program.
  • Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and district policies for classroom teachers.
  • Assume responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and other documents required.
