Hospice Spiritual Care Counselor - PRN

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Spiritual Counselor to provide guidance and support for our hospice patients and their families. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of spiritual principles and be skilled in offering bereavement support, hospice care, and counseling. This role requires a strong commitment to helping others find peace, healing, and purpose through various life transitions.

Candidates should be graduates of an accredited seminary or school of theology or have an appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry. Minimum of 2 years experience as a chaplain / spiritual counselor is preferred.

Duties

  • Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to individuals facing grief, loss, or spiritual crises.
  • Facilitate group sessions and workshops focused on personal growth, healing, and spiritual development.
  • Offer bereavement support to families during difficult times, including hospice care settings.
  • Develop and deliver presentations on spiritual topics to diverse audiences.
  • Plan and organize events that promote community engagement and spiritual enrichment.
  • Mentor individuals seeking guidance in their spiritual journey or personal challenges.
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist clients in distressing situations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide holistic support for patients in hospice care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of counseling sessions and client progress.

Skills

  • Strong bereavement support skills with experience in hospice care settings.
  • Proficient in teaching and public speaking with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
  • The ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective client interaction and documentation.
  • Strong writing skills for creating informative materials and resources for clients.
  • Experience in event planning to organize impactful community events or workshops.
  • Proficient in crisis intervention strategies with a focus on conflict management and resolution.
  • Ability to mentor individuals through their personal growth journeys while providing compassionate support.
