The Role: RBT Trainer

Who We Are Looking For:
The RBT Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive training to aspiring RBTs in compliance with the standards set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). The trainer will teach ABA principles, ethical guidelines, data collection methods, and behavior intervention techniques. They will also oversee the practical application of these skills through hands-on training and provide feedback to improve trainee performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Education:
- Provide structured RBT training programs that meet BACB standards.
- Deliver lectures, workshops, and hands-on training sessions on ABA principles and behavior intervention strategies.
- Educate trainees on ethical and professional standards, including the BACB's RBT task list and ethical guidelines.
Supervision and Support:
- Supervise trainees in the practical application of behavior-analytic skills during training sessions and client interactions.
- Provide constructive feedback to enhance the development of clinical skills.
- Assist in identifying areas of improvement for each trainee and support their ongoing development.
Curriculum Development:
- Develop and update training materials to ensure alignment with the latest ABA practices and BACB requirements.
- Design simulations, role-playing exercises, and other interactive activities to facilitate skill acquisition.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Monitor and assess trainee performance, ensuring readiness for the RBT certification exam.
- Administer competency assessments and provide feedback on areas requiring improvement.
- Ensure trainees complete the necessary training hours and assessments required for RBT certification.
Compliance and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate documentation of training hours, performance evaluations, and progress reports.
- Ensure that training and supervision adhere to the ethical and professional standards outlined by the BACB.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and other professionals to ensure that the training program is aligned with organizational and industry standards.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss training progress and updates on ABA best practices.
Qualifications:
Certification: Active RBT certification (required)
BCBA Certification: Preferred or significant experience in ABA and behavior therapy
Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience working as an RBT or in a similar capacity in the field of ABA. Prior experience in training or supervising behavior technicians is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ABA principles, data collection techniques, and behavior intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and support to trainees.
Other Requirements:
- Familiarity with BACB requirements and RBT competency assessments.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and contribute to the success of the training program.
