Position Information

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Medical Director - View Hospital provides clinical and operational leadership for inpatient psychiatry services at View Hospital, including program development, direct patient care, quality oversight, interdisciplinary coordination, and support of the academic mission of UCR School of Medicine. The successful candidate must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree, be board certified and/or eligible to practice in the State of California by the time of employment. Applicants must qualify for medical staff privileges at UCR Health and UCR affiliated hospitals. The full salary range for the Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist positions are: * Associate Physician Diplomate (board certified + 1 year exp): $163,400 - $400,300; expected pay scale for this position is up to $330,000 annually. * Associate Physician (board eligible + 1 year exp): $142,100 - $348,100; expected pay scale for this position is up to $315,000 annually. * Assistant Physician (board eligible): $123,500 - $302,600; expected pay scale for this position is up to $290,000 annually. These annual rates are at 100% FTE appointment. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure, certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Additionally a concurrent administrative appointment will be proposed. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Requirements

Education Requirements
  • Possession of the education and legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.
  • MD or DO from an accredited institution.
Experience
  • Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Must meet UC and affiliated hospital credentialing requirements.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in inpatient psychiatry.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Experience providing care in adult inpatient psychiatry and/or child & adolescent inpatient psychiatry settings.
  • Prior leadership experience in inpatient behavioral health, psychiatric service lines, or hospital-based psychiatry programs.
  • Experience in behavioral health inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Experience in program development, clinical operations, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Experience in academic medicine, clinical teaching, and mentorship of learners.

Ability to stay abreast of new medical knowledge, and to maintain and increase expertise and skills as relevant to clinical practice. License Requirements

UCR is recruiting a full-time Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry to provide clinical and operational leadership for Adult and Child & Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry services at View Hospital. The role will support program development, direct patient care, quality and regulatory initiatives, interdisciplinary collaboration, and service line growth. This position will also contribute to the academic mission through teaching and mentorship, as appropriate, while helping build a high-quality inpatient psychiatry program aligned with the mission of UCR School of Medicine and its clinical partners.

  • Clinical Leadership and Patient Care: Provide direct inpatient psychiatric care for adult and child/adolescent patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams. Oversee clinical workflows and support safe, high-quality patient care.
