We are hiring a bilingual Spanish English Substance Use Counselor to support adolescents and young adults ages 12 to 24 in San Francisco’s Mission District

This is a community based role working with youth navigating substance use trauma and complex life circumstances with the structure support and manageable caseloads that allow you to do this work sustainably

About the Program
This is a mission driven community rooted program serving primarily Latinx youth and families Many of the young people served are navigating substance use trauma and systemic barriers and benefit from consistent culturally responsive support

The team prioritizes sustainability collaboration and doing meaningful work in a way that is structured and supported

What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide individualized case management and recovery oriented support
  • Complete intake screenings and assessments using SBIRT and similar tools
  • Use motivational interviewing and strengths based approaches
  • Apply harm reduction strategies to support engagement and safety
  • Develop and maintain individualized service plans
  • Connect youth to behavioral health education employment housing and medical resources
  • Co facilitate recovery psychoeducation or wellness groups
  • Conduct outreach in homes schools and community settings
  • Maintain clear timely documentation
  • Collaborate with clinicians schools probation and community partners

Who This Is a Good Fit For

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required
  • At least 2 years of experience working with youth or young adults
  • Experience in substance use recovery services or behavioral health
  • Familiarity with motivational interviewing SBIRT or harm reduction
  • Experience working with diverse communities including Latinx populations
  • Comfort working with youth impacted by trauma justice involvement or instability
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

Compensation and Benefits

  • 31.00 to 33.00 per hour depending on experience
