Position Summary
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavioral assessment, consultation, intervention planning, and oversight of behavior support services for adults with developmental disabilities residing in a Community Crisis Home (CCH). The BCBA collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, regional centers, medical professionals, and direct support staff to ensure the implementation of effective, evidence-based behavioral interventions that promote stability, safety, and community integration.
The BCBA ensures services are delivered in accordance with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) best practices, the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) ethical guidelines, and applicable California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) regulations.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Behavior Planning
Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and behavioral evaluations for individuals with developmental and behavioral challenges.
Develop individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
Utilize evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies.
Monitor behavioral data and adjust interventions as needed.
Provide crisis stabilization behavioral strategies for individuals experiencing acute behavioral challenges.
Program Oversight & Quality Assurance
Ensure behavioral services comply with California Title 17 and Title 22 regulations.
Monitor implementation of behavior plans in the CCH program.
Conduct regular program reviews and behavioral service evaluations.
Provide clinical recommendations to improve treatment outcomes.
Ensure appropriate use of positive behavioral supports and least restrictive interventions.
Staff Training & Supervision
Train and mentor Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), behavioral staff, and program managers.
Provide coaching on behavior intervention implementation.
Supervise Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) or behavior specialists when applicable.
Conduct competency-based training on crisis intervention and behavior support strategies.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Collaborate with:
Regional Center Service Coordinators
Psychiatrists and psychologists
Nurses and healthcare professionals
Social workers and case managers
Residential staff and administrators
Participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings and treatment planning sessions.
Provide behavioral consultation to community partners.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate documentation including:
Behavioral assessments
Behavior support plans
Progress reports
Incident reviews
Ensure compliance with:
BACB ethical standards
Regional Center requirements
DDS licensing regulations
Prepare reports for regional center and regulatory review.
Community & Regional Collaboration
Provide consultation to providers serving individuals in crisis or transition.
Support stabilization and transition planning to long-term residential placements.
Participate in community outreach and training related to behavioral services.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree or higher in one of the following fields:
Behavior Analysis
Psychology
Counseling
Special Education
Social Work
Related behavioral science field.
Certification
Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Experience
Minimum 2 years of post-graduate experience providing behavior analytic services.
Experience working with individuals with:
Developmental disabilities
Autism spectrum disorder
Behavioral or mental health challenges
Experience working with regional centers or residential service providers preferred.
Experience in crisis intervention or residential settings strongly preferred.

Regulatory & Employment Requirements
Valid BCBA certification in good standing.
Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to travel throughout Alameda County and Contra Costa County.
CPR, First Aid, and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
Successful completion of:
Criminal background clearance
TB test / health screening
Professional license verification.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree or higher in one of the following fields:
Applied Behavior Analysis
Psychology
Special Education
Counseling
Social Work
Behavioral Science or closely related field
Certification
Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board in good standing.
Experience
Minimum two (2) years of professional experience providing behavioral services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Experience conducting functional behavior assessments and developing behavior intervention plans.
Experience working with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors preferred.
Experience in residential, crisis stabilization, or intensive behavioral programs strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis principles and methodologies.
Knowledge of positive behavioral supports and trauma-informed care.
Understanding of regulations governing services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Ability to analyze behavioral data and implement evidence-based interventions.
Ability to train and mentor staff.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
Regulatory and Employment Requirements
Employees must meet all applicable requirements including:
Current BCBA certification in good standing.
Compliance with applicable regulations of the California Department of Developmental Services.
Successful completion of criminal background clearance through the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Completion of required health screenings including TB clearance.
Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to travel throughout the service area including Alameda County and Contra Costa County.
