Social Work Assistant

Duties

• Assist in conducting crisis intervention and crisis management to stabilize clients during urgent situations
• Support addiction counseling efforts by facilitating group activities and providing motivational interviewing techniques
• Coordinate with healthcare providers on behavioral health plans, including Medicaid and Medicare services
• Help supervise and mentor clients, including children in childcare or child welfare programs, promoting positive behavioral development
• Facilitate community outreach initiatives related to workforce development and Section 8 housing programs
• Maintain detailed records of client interactions, service plans, and progress reports in compliance with organizational policies
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans that address social work needs and promote client independence

Skills

• Strong knowledge of social work principles, behavioral health practices, and crisis intervention strategies
• Experience in addiction counseling and managing behavioral health challenges effectively
• Proven ability to handle crisis situations with calmness and professionalism while implementing appropriate interventions
• Skilled in motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients in their recovery or development journey
• Supervising experience working with children or vulnerable populations is highly desirable
• Excellent communication skills for mentoring clients, coordinating with team members, and engaging community partners
• Familiarity with housing assistance programs such as Section 8, child welfare services, and healthcare programs like Medicare is a plus
