Duties
- Assess clients’ housing needs and develop personalized action plans to secure stable accommodations
- Coordinate with landlords, property managers, and housing authorities to negotiate lease agreements and ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations
- Provide crisis intervention and motivational interviewing to support clients facing urgent challenges such as addiction or mental health issues
- Educate clients on landlord-tenant law, Section 8 housing programs, and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) properties to promote informed decision-making
- Maintain accurate records using property management software such as Yardi or OneSite, tracking client progress and housing placements
- Advocate for clients during negotiations with landlords or service providers to resolve disputes or barriers effectively
- Deliver ongoing support through social work principles, ensuring clients are connected with addiction counseling, mental health resources, or other community services as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience or knowledge of LIHTC programs, Section 8 housing, and landlord-tenant law
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients
- Experience in crisis intervention and crisis management techniques
- Familiarity with property management systems such as Yardi or OneSite is preferred
- Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and Section 8 policies to ensure compliance and fair treatment
- Background in social work, addiction counseling, or related fields is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and empower clients through motivational interviewing techniques
