The Mental Health Counselor provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions and services to children and their families to address a wide range of identified behavioral and emotional concerns. Responsibilities include conducting intakes and assessments, as well as providing individual and family counseling services. Services are delivered virtually, at Houston-area office locations (including our Texas City Family Resouce Center, up to five days per week), and potentially schools across the Houston area, including Baytown.Experience/Skills Required:
- Master’s in social work or related human services field.
- Fully licensed as an LMSW; or
- Provisionally licensed as an LPC-Associate, or LMFT-Associate.
- Passed licensure examination to obtain LMSW, LMFT-Associate, or LPC-Associate.
- Employment is contingent upon obtaining full/provisional licensure within 90 days of hire.
- Fluent in Spanish. English Required.
- Entry level acceptable with one year's experience.
- Experience in case management, crisis intervention, or child welfare.
- Ability to relate well to children and families in crisis.
- Comfortable with complexity, advocacy, and mediation.
- Strong ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good paperwork and organizational skills.
- Ability to submit all documentation electronically and in the office timely.
- Knowledge of social work practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with fellow staff and referral sources.
- Ability to maintain a professional, confidential working environment.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
- Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.
- Environment: Home-based Office, Schools, Virtual/Community settings
- Range of Schedule: Mon -Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm (vary according to client schedule)
- Travel: Frequent - Must have reliable personal transportation, valid Texas driver license and current auto insurance.
