Overview

Job Duties

Work with children, adolescents, and their families to promote optimum mental and emotional health. Help youth and families deal with anxiety and depression as well as issues associated with family, parenting, peers, school related stress, adjustment issues, stress management, self-esteem, grief and developmental issues.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Advocates for patient’s unmet needs. Provides clinical intervention (counseling, support) as needed.
  • Ensure coordination of community agency services and resources by serving as a liaison between the medical and community providers as appropriate to meet family needs.
  • Provide individual, group, family or marriage therapy. Baker Act patients as needed.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing, customer service and administrative staff.
  • Confers with Supervisor on caseload responsibilities.
  • Counsels with patient and family and may involve community resources.
  • Promotes a patient- and family-centered care environment for ethical decision making. Advocates for patients to promote optimal care and outcomes. Promotes autonomous decision making by patients.
  • Serves as a liaison between this program and other areas of service that interact with this program and patients.
  • Collect and enter Research data, and review lab and procedure results.
  • Ensure compliance of regulatory and organizational policies and procedures and recommends changes in the department policies and procedures as identified.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements

3 years mental Health/social work required

3 years in areas of trauma and grief resolution, along with experience in treating axis II disorders preferred

Education Requirements

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization, preferably dialectical behavioral therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, family therapy, or trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.

Current licensure as a Clinical Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor

High School Diploma or GED required

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required or at time of hire

Licensed Psychologist required or at time of hire

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) required or at time of hire
