Ablehealthcare Nurse Practitioners in Psychiatry is a small, growing outpatient mental health practice. We provide thoughtful, patient-centered psychiatric care to individuals across New Jersey via telehealth and limited in-person services.

Who Weʼre Looking For

Weʼre seeking a PMHNP who is warm, attentive, and clinically grounded. You listen carefully, explain treatment options clearly, and adjust plans based on the individual.

Youʼre comfortable managing common outpatient psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and mood disorders. You prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications confidently, recognize your clinical limits, and collaborate or refer when higher levels of care are needed. We do not manage acute psychosis requiring inpatient stabilization, detox, or residential substance use treatment.

This role is best suited for clinicians who:

• Want flexible, supplemental clinical work
• Are comfortable with variable scheduling and gradual caseload growth
• Understand that credentialing can take several months
• Value autonomy, professionalism, and long-term collaboration

While this is an as-needed role, we strongly prefer clinicians interested in an ongoing relationship, as credentialing and onboarding require a meaningful investment on both sides.

Role & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations (typically 60 minutes)
• Provide medication management follow-ups (typically 20-30 minutes)
• Diagnose and treat outpatient psychiatric conditions
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including controlled substances when clinically appropriate
• Perform risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention as needed
• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
• Collaborate with therapists and other providers as clinically indicated
• Comply with all professional, ethical, and regulatory standards
• Follow state requirements, including PDMP checks and prescribing regulations

Schedule & Caseload

• Flexible scheduling based on your availability
• Typical commitment: 10-20 clinical hours per week, depending on patient demand and clinician availability
• No guaranteed minimum hours
• Evening or weekend availability welcomed but not required
• Caseload builds gradually, particularly during the credentialing phase

Compensation

• $70-$75 per completed clinical hour/session, based on experience and modality
• Rates are net of administrative, billing, and scheduling support provided by the practice
• Paid per completed session (1099 independent contractor)

Qualifications Required

• Active, unrestricted New Jersey APN / PMHNP license
• Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
• DEA registration associated with New Jersey (or ability to obtain)
• Active NPI (Type 1)
• Professional liability (malpractice) insurance
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient psychiatric experience
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Comfortable with EHR systems, e-prescribing, and telehealth platforms

Preferred

• Outpatient psychiatry experience
• Telehealth experience
• Bilingual English/Spanish (not required)

Credentialing & Onboarding

• Credentialing with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial plans typically takes 3-6 months
• Self-pay visits may be available once onboarding is complete
• Orientation, EHR setup, and clinical workflows provided prior to independent practice
