Overview
North Rockland Central School District is seeking a bilingual (Spanish- English) Therapist or Social Worker to provide school-based mental health services to students and families. This position focuses on serving migrant and Spanish- Speaking populations, including students experiencing trauma, and adjustment related challenges. The ideal candidate is culturally responsive and experienced working with children and adolescents in educational settings.

Duties

  • Provide individual counselling to students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop and implement effective intervention strategies
  • Deliver culturally responsive services to Spanish- speaking students and families
  • Assist students with crisis management and crisis intervention to ensure safety and stability
  • Support child protective services and child welfare initiatives within the school setting
  • Facilitate conflict management sessions and promote positive social interactions among students
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to develop tailored support plans for students
  • Maintain detailed documentation of sessions, interventions, and progress notes in compliance with confidentiality standards

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counselling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field.
  • Valid license as LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent credential
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English required
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, or students in an educational or clinical setting
  • Knowledge of child protective services, child welfare, and special education processes
  • Strong skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, and conflict resolution
  • Background in behavioral health, social work, or related fields with a focus on youth development
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and engage families effectively
