Board Certified Music Therapist

The Great Lakes Music Company is a music therapist owned private practice located in Northwest Indiana approximately 45 minutes southeast of the city of Chicago. The GLMC specializes in treatment for individuals with intellectual disabilities and is guided by principles of community music therapy and neurodiversity.

We will begin accepting applications for this position on September 1st, 2025. This opening is for February, 2026.

Our music therapy sessions take place Monday-Friday between 9am-6pm. Therapists assist in building their own schedules and manage their own day-to-day activities.

We offer our therapists monthly health insurance stipends to offset the cost of health insurance.

This position will have a full-time caseload of approximately 22-25 individuals.

This is a full-time salaried position. A full-time therapist is expected to spend approximately 23 hours a week in sessions with an additional 5 hours of client-directed administrative time. Our sessions take place at our Merrillville clinic, client homes, and community facilities. All mileage costs are reimbursed. The therapist will be encouraged to work with student observers, practicum students, and interns from AMTA accredited academic programs.

Music therapists provide music therapy services to individuals of all abilities across the lifespan. Music Therapists will complete clinical assessments, treatment planning, documenting and reporting on the progress of their clients. All preparation, documentation, and billing are done electronically on a MacBook and iPad that are provided to the therapist.
