Position Overview
We are seeking a Qualified Mental Health Professional – Community Services (QMHP-CS) to provide community-based mental health services to children and families throughout the Houston area. This is a field-based position, not an office role. Services are delivered in clients’ homes, schools, and community settings.
This role requires flexibility, strong documentation habits, and the ability to work independently while maintaining compliance with Texas Medicaid and agency standards.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a human services or behavioral health field (Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, or related field)
- Must meet Texas QMHP-CS qualifications
Work Schedule
- Primary hours: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Some weekend availability required
- Schedule is based on client availability
- Clients are located throughout Houston (no single service area)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide community-based mental health services to assigned clients
- Travel to clients’ homes, schools, and community locations
- Assist clients with:

- Accessing food pantries
- Completing applications (including Social Security and other benefits)
- Identifying and connecting to community resources
- Provide parents and caregivers with education and resources
- Teach clients coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and life skills
- Ensure each client is seen at least twice per week
- Complete accurate and timely documentation
Documentation & Compliance Expectations
- All notes must be completed within 24–48 hours of service
- Late or missing documentation will result in non-payment for that service
- Notes should be completed with the client whenever possible so time may be billed appropriately
- Documentation must meet Medicaid, HHSC, and agency standards
Travel & Reimbursement
- This is a high-travel position
- Mileage/travel reimbursement is paid bi-weekly
- Reliable transportation is required

- Ability to maintain boundaries while providing supportive, hands-on services

- Needs a fixed office location
- Struggles with documentation deadlines
- Is uncomfortable traveling across Houston
- Is unable to manage their own schedule responsibly
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $27.00 per hour
