Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations, to determine substance use severity and mental health needs using ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and addiction counseling techniques.
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, and behavioral health strategies.
  • Provide crisis intervention and crisis management to support clients experiencing acute emotional or behavioral episodes, ensuring safety and stabilization.
  • Engage in case management activities such as intake procedures, patient care coordination, and follow-up to ensure continuity of care across home, community, hospital settings, and outpatient services.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including medical records, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to conduct research-based interventions and utilize data collection methods for quality improvement initiatives.

Skills

  • Proven experience in psychotherapy, addiction counseling, behavioral health, or mental health counseling with a focus on substance abuse recovery.
  • Strong knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques to motivate clients toward positive behavioral change.
  • Expertise in child & family counseling to address the broader social context of recovery when applicable.
  • Skilled in crisis intervention and crisis management strategies to handle emergency situations effectively.
  • Familiarity with hospital experience or home & community care environments enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, medical documentation practices, CPT coding for billing purposes, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and understanding of behavioral management principles.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using evidence-based tools while adhering to HIPAA standards for patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for engaging clients in individual or group counseling sessions while fostering a supportive environment.
  • Knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques when working with specific populations requiring behavior management strategies.
