The Department of Community Resources (DCR) through its Community Resource Centers, supports the core departments of Mecklenburg County Health and Human Services (HHS) in doing their business through an integrated service delivery model of subject-matter experts from each core department and community partners who provide services to County residents in our HHS Community Resource Centers.

In addition, DCR is responsible for administering Child Support Services, Economic Services, MeckSuccess, HOMES, and Workforce Development programs, as well as Integrated Health and Human Services Mail Services.


Position Specific Summary

Supervisor has oversight over the daily operations for Partnership Services and SSI/SSDI, Outreach, Access and Recovery (SOAR). Partnership Services assists customers seeking emergency medication assistance, financial assistance resources with rent and utilities and community resource that may present in person or call-in the agency. The SOAR program is designed to increase access to the disability income benefit programs administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) for eligible adults and children who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and have a serious mental illness, medical impairment, and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.


Position Summary

Provides direct supervision, training, support, review and evaluation of professional technical and para-professional staff involved in areas which include a broad range of Social Services. This position compiles reports and data to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures as well as assignment and monitoring of cases. This position provides feedback to staff to enhance their capabilities to perform efficiently.

Location:
This individual will provide on-site support to both the Ella B. Scarbrough and Valerie C. Woodard Community Resource Centers.


Essential Functions

  • Supervise, train and evaluate the performance of technical and professional staff
  • Consult with teams and staff on individual case assignments
  • Develop procedures to meet department or program goals, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines. Reviews information with teams or staff members to provide guidance and direction in the delivery of services
  • Establish performance objectives, conduct periodic reviews, and lead progress toward objectives
  • Monitor budget activities and adjusts expenditures; makes budget recommendations as appropriate
  • Review and audits staff cases and workloads to prioritize duties and referrals for new cases
  • Complete monthly and quarterly program reports
  • Provide consultation to staff in complex case situations, acute emergencies, or cases which require a high-level decision
  • Communicate with and visit other public and private welfare agencies, hospitals and other institutions to exchange information and develop resources
  • Seek additional resources and partnership to increase funding and expand services
  • Review and analyze activity reports and statistics for continuous awareness of program operation
  • May be required to staff shelters in the event of a disaster


Minimum Qualifications

Experience:
Minimum of five years of social services or human services experience

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Health or related field

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or a related Human Services degree preferred
Experience working in high-volume environments


Licenses and Certifications

  • Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
  • Requires County Driving Privileges
