Job Title: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Location: In-home services Newport NC

Reports To: Clinical Director / BCBA

Position Type: Part-time

Work Schedule: Flexible, must maintain consistency with client schedules. Afterschool hours are needed at this time.

Position Overview:

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will work directly with clients, under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), to implement individualized treatment plans and assist in behavior management. This role requires someone who is compassionate, flexible, and committed to providing high-quality therapy while ensuring consistency with client schedules. The RBT must be able to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 15 lbs to ensure client safety and participation in therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement ABA Therapy: Follow treatment plans developed by the BCBA, applying ABA principles such as reinforcement, prompting, and shaping to address client behaviors and skill acquisition.
  • Behavioral Data Collection: Accurately track and record client progress by collecting data on target behaviors and skills as outlined in the treatment plan.
  • Consistency with Schedules: Ensure consistency with clients’ schedules, ensuring timely attendance and adhering to session start and end times.
  • Client Interaction: Build rapport with clients, maintain a professional demeanor, and create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
  • Behavioral Interventions: Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for clients exhibiting challenging behaviors, using appropriate ABA techniques and strategies.
  • Collaboration: Communicate regularly with the BCBA and other team members regarding client progress, challenges, and observations. Participate in team meetings to discuss progress and adjustments to treatment plans.
  • Family Support: Occasionally, provide family training or guidance to help families reinforce therapy goals and strategies at home.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, and lift up to 15 lbs to assist clients during sessions, depending on client needs and session activities.

Qualifications:

  • RBT Certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in psychology, special education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ABA: Familiarity with basic ABA principles, including reinforcement, extinction, and prompting techniques.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, and lift up to 15 lbs in order to provide support during therapy sessions.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
  • Professionalism: Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and respect confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Availability: Must be able to maintain consistency with client schedules and provide timely therapy services. Afternoon/ Afterschool availability needed at this time.

Working Conditions:

  • Work Environment: Work will primarily take place in client homes or other in-person settings. This may involve travel within the local area.
  • Physical Demands: RBTs should be able to move and assist clients in various physical tasks, such as bending, stooping, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 15 lbs.
  • Schedule: Flexibility is important as you will be expected to work with clients according to their schedules. Sessions may occur in mornings, afternoons, or evenings.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate: Competitive hourly wage, commensurate with experience and education.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • RBT: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • RBT Certification or 40-hour course completion (Required)
