Social Services Assistant Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a Human Services field desirable.

  • Two years of social work supervised experience working directly with geriatric clients in a health care setting, desirable.

Social Services Assistant Physical and Communication Requirements:

Your role will encompass a variety of physical tasks and communication needs:

  • Interaction with residents and families to maintain dignity, provide counseling, and facilitate emotional support.

  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to understand and meet residents' unique needs.

  • Building relationships between residents and staff while promoting individuality and choice.

  • Assisting residents in the decision-making process about their healthcare.

  • Documenting interaction and social care components in assessment and care plans.

  • Identifying community services and facilitating their utilization.

  • Compiling social histories to enrich understanding of residents' backgrounds.

  • Observing and reporting changes in behavior, attitude, or personality for timely interventions.
