Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Regional School Therapist to join our team and make a meaningful impact on students' mental health and well-being. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive behavioral and mental health support across multiple school sites within your region. You will collaborate closely with educators, families, and healthcare professionals to deliver tailored interventions, conduct assessments, and implement evidence-based therapies that address diverse needs. This position offers the opportunity to empower students with developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, or mental health concerns through compassionate care and strategic case management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychological and behavioral assessments to identify student needs and develop individualized support plans.
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
- Provide crisis intervention and crisis management to de-escalate situations effectively while ensuring student safety.
- Implement behavior management strategies and behavior modification techniques to promote positive behaviors in school settings.
- Offer specialized support for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, PTSD, or other mental health conditions.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, social workers, and medical professionals to coordinate case management and ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, patient records, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations and patient assessments to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Facilitate training sessions for staff on topics such as conflict management, behavioral health strategies, and mental health awareness.
- Collect data on student outcomes to inform program improvements and report on intervention effectiveness.
- Support students’ social-emotional development through culturally sensitive counseling approaches including Christian counseling if applicable.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in educational or clinical settings, preferably within schools or special education environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in crisis intervention, crisis management, addiction counseling, behavioral therapy, and social work practices.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation standards related to patient care in educational or healthcare contexts.
- Strong background in working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), PTSD care needs, or other mental health conditions requiring specialized interventions.
- Experience utilizing applied behavior analysis (ABA), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing techniques, and other evidence-based therapies for diverse populations.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards for safeguarding sensitive information related to student health records.
- Ability to manage multiple cases effectively through case management skills while maintaining a compassionate approach toward students’ unique challenges.
