Residential Counselor (RC) – Weekend Coverage (Per Diem)

Family House is the only Teen Shelter in Ulster County, NY, serving youth ages 12–17. We are seeking Residential Counselors / Per Diem staff with weekend availability (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) to help keep youth engaged, supported, and motivated during less-structured times. As a 24/7 program, additional shifts on other days and times may become available for those with flexibility.

Residential Counselors serve as positive role models and support youth with daily routines, supervision, and weekend recreational activities, including outings and structured indoor and outdoor programs. This role is well-suited for individuals who are energetic, patient, dependable, and enjoy actively engaging with teens.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage youth in weekend activities and recreation
• Support daily routines, structure, and safety
• Maintain professional boundaries and respond calmly to crisis situations

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Human Services or relevant experience preferred
• Experience with RHY / at-risk youth a plus
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background clearance requirements
• Bilingual helpful but not required
